HON (DR.) OMEDE IDRIS

Dr. Omede Idris, was born to the Family of Omede Yusuf Edegbo of Odu in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, on 10th September 1962. He had his Primary Education at Methodist Primary School Kano (1970 – 1976) and his Secondary Education at Federal Government College, Kano (1976 – 1981). He holds bachelor’s degrees in Medicine & Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Jos, Plateau State in 1987. He was a very active member of Jos University Medical Students Association(JUMSA). He acquired a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna State in 2007. Dr. Omede was elected Chairman of the MPH class of 2007-2008

He led an accomplished and very memorable career in the medical field spanning nearly three decades. He began with a medical Houseman-ship experience at the then General Hospital (now Federal Medical Centre) Makurdi, Benue State from 1987 until 1988. Afterwards, Dr. Omede was posted to the defunct Gongola State for his National Youth Service (NYSC) from 1988 to 1989. At this period he took charge of the NYSC Camp Clinic and was made the Chairman, Gongola State NYSC Community Development Services Health team (CDS). On completion of the service year, Dr. Omede immediately joined the then Gongola State Civil Service as a Medical Officer at the Specialist Hospital, in Yola.  He served the Hospital from 1989-1993, before opting out into private medical practice. He was one of the medical doctors who kick-started the very first few private medical facility in Yola, known as Adamawa Hospital Limited, serving as one of the pioneer medical Doctors and Directors of the hospital from its inception in 1993. Since 1993, Dr. Omede has served the Adamawa Hospital Board as Director, and rose to the position of Chief Executive Officer in 1998.

Dr. Omede led a distinguished career at various levels in the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA). He was elected into various positions in the Adamawa State branch of NMA, and also served in several NMA Committees in the State between 1992 and 1998. He later moved to the national level and emerged as Deputy Secretary-General, a position he held from 2000-2002. Secretary NMA National Disciplinary Tribunal and all NMA standing committees 2000-2002. While serving the NMA at the national level, he chaired many National Committees. Notable among them were the Conference Organizing Committee (2002-2004), Immunization Committee (2004-2006), Doctors Plate Number Committee (2006-2008), Advisory Committee on Health Insurance (2008-2010), Building and Property Committee from 2014 to present.

To cap it all, Dr. Omede, was elected National President of the Nigerian Medical Association from 2010 – 2012. Owing to his unblemished career of service to his profession, community and country, Dr. Omede was elected 2nd Deputy National President of the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN) (2012-2014). Also in 2014 he moved a step ahead and emerged as 1st Deputy National President of APBN. He was later elected to serve as President of APBN on 28th September, 2016. APBN is an Association of Professions, Institutions, Societies and Associations whose regulatory councils or bodies are registered by an Act of Parliament, providing advisory role and professional support to Government for sustainable development. APBN currently has 30 professional member bodies.

With this distinguished record of achievements and accomplishments in the medical profession and other extracurricular activities, Dr. Omede was in July 2012,appointed Honorable Commissioner of Health, in Kogi State where he served closed to four years, until 26th January 2016. During his tenure with the Kogi State Executive Council, he served as Chairman of Commissioners` Forum, from July 2014 to January 2016.

Dr. Omede has been a Rotarian, and thus member of Rotary International for many years. He was a member of the then, Rotary Club of Jimeta-Yola North, and now a Member of the Rotary Club of Yola. He served as Past Secretary, Past Vice President and former Director of Rotary Club of Jimeta between 1996 and 2000. He was a Past President of the club 2000-2001 and a Past Assistant Governor of Rotary District 9120, for Adamawa & Taraba States (2001-2002). He was also the District Chairman National Polio-Plus Committee (NPPC) 2012 – 2013 of District 9125.  As a Rotarian and Past President of Rotary, he carried out community projects targeted at the poor, less privileged and provision of Health Care Services to the poor and needy. He was President Inikpi Club, a social philanthropic club 1993-1996, with functional base in Kogi East district of Kogi state.

He is widely travelled within and outside Nigeria for professional business and Associations’ Conferences, Meetings, Workshops, Seminars and other activities, including member Federal Medical Team to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, four times, between 2003-2008, World Health Assembly, Geneva , Switzerland 2013 and the first ever Global Maternal and Newborn Health Conference in Mexico city 2015. Dr. Omede has presented several papers in many conferences and workshops on public health and contemporary issues, in many states of the federation, including Abuja. He also served as Central and State Training Facilitator to the National Programme on Immunization (NPI) for National Immunization Days (NIDs) in 2001 and 2005-2006.

With his rich profile of achievements Dr. Omede has merited and indeed been conferred with numerous awards from his Professional association (NMA) and several other professional bodies, associations and organisations. Among the awards include, Heads of Federal Establishments of the Federation in Yola, 2005; Igala Cultural and Development Association, Adamawa State branch, Igala Students Association, Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola; Rotary and Rotaract awards. Others are National Association of Kogi State students (NAKOSS); National Youth Council, Kogi State chapter, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), Kogi State Branch, Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation, Lokoja, Kogi State.  Also included are Dekina Local Government Young Elite Forum, Ambassador of Dekina Children, Kogi State Youth Parliament and Leadership award, Mass Communication Department, Kogi State University, Anyigba. He serves as Chairman, Board of Trustees of Optimum Health Initiatives (OHI) – a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). Dr. Omede Idris has formerly served as a member of the governing board of the following Boards:

Chief (Engr.) Olumuyiwa Alade Ajibola FNSE(1st Deputy President)

OLUMUYIWA ALADE AJIBOLA was born on 5th March 1947 in Ile Ife, Osun State.

He attended Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti between 1960 and 1966, for his School & Higher School Certificates.

He obtained B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering, University of London -West Ham College of Technology, Stratford E15, now University of East London in 1970.  He had his initial pupilage at the Urban District Council of Basildon New Town, Essex, England 1970/73.  Advanced his career back home in Nigeria in the Engineering Consultancy Practice of Etteh Aro & Partners 1974/76. He further obtained his M.Sc Degree in Highway & Traffic Engineering/Construction Management from the University of Birmingham, Edgbaston in 1978/79.

By late 1976, he co-founded INTECON PARTNERSHIP, (later INTECON PARTNERSHIP LTD), now a leading Civil/ Structural Engineering Consulting firm in Nigeria today. He also led the formation of two other Civil Engineering Service Companies viz: Interworks Engineering Ltd., (Construction) and Automated Geotechnics Ltd., (Geotechnical Investigation and Foundation Engineering), both subsidiaries of INTECON PARTNERSHIP LTD, now ISO 9001:2008 certified.

In the past 40 years, he has been developing the practice of the profession, training and mentoring several Civil Engineers of note, through the Organizations established by him. He participated in spectacular projects both in the UK and across Nigeria including, Nevedon Road 63 Dwellings, Basildon, UK; Tafawa  Balewa Sqaure Civil Works, Lagos (1975); Air force Hangar at MM International Airport (1977); QIT-Ibeno Road through creeks & swamps; Eket, Bonny & Escravos Airstrip Runways for Exxon Mobil and Chevron respectively; several Civil, Structural  and Highways Engineering projects across the Nation.

Engr. Ajibola served the Engineering Profession meritoriously in various capacities in the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), ACEN, COREN and WFEO, over the past 3 decades ultimately as President of Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Engineering Umbrella body: 2010-2011. He has authored several Engineering Technical Papers, presented at different National and International fora. He recently delivered the 25th NSE October Lecture, as a Past President of the NSE; “Creativity in the Application of Nigerian Engineering Resources for Effective Economic Development: a National Policy Imperative”, on the 8th October, 2015.

He also served in various State, National, Academic and Professional Councils viz; Member -Osun State Economic Advisory Council, Governing Councils of the University of Ado-Ekiti, the Premier University of Ibadan, the Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board, National Refineries Special Task Force (2012); Chairman, COREN Investigation Panel (2012-2015) and Member Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

He is a Fellow of the NSE, NICE and NIStructE. He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (NAE).

He is married with children, four of whom are Engineers. He loves Reading, Travelling and playing Golf.

He holds the Chieftaincy title of ‘Agbaakin’ of Ile-Ife.

Adm. Goddy Idaminabo, a first class Professional Administrator is the immediate past President of the Chartered Institute of Administration. He is both a Chartered Administrator and a Cost and Management Accountant having been chartered and practicing since1999.

Adm. Goddy Idaminabo has two Doctorate Degrees (PHD’s) in Strategic Planning and Church Administration from the Pacific Western University Colorado USA, and the GMF Christian University.

Surv. Olumide V. Adewebi (Secretary General)

Olumide V. Adewebi fnis is a Surveyor with a long track record of achievements. His
professional career spans over 22 years covering Cadastral, Engineering, Oil and Gas,
Project Management and Spatial Systems Integration. A seasoned practitioner who is
an Executive Director of a the leading Surveying and Geomatics firms based in Lagos –
Geosys Nigeria Limited established in 1997. Under his leadership Geosys has been
involved in numerous projects and has worked for many corporate and government
clients as well as in conjunction with consultants all over the world to deliver quality
solutions for projects here in Nigeria.
Surv. Olumide V. Adewebi fnis is also well known in the industry and professional circles
as a noted speaker and leader. He has held the positions of Publicity Secretary, Branch
Secretary and National Council Representative of the Lagos State Branch of the Nigerian
Institution of Surveyors. He was also the pioneer chairman of the Re-Engineering
Committee of the South West Forum of Surveyors a body made up of all the Surveyors
in the South West States of Nigeria. He served as a representative of the Nigerian
Institution of Surveyors in the 6th Council of the Surveyors Council of Nigeria as well as
the Think-Tank Committee of the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria. He also
was the 16th Secretary General of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors and a Fellow of
the Institution and his tenure experienced a lot of innovation and increased membership
engagement within the Institution. In 2013 he was the chief organizer of the
International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) International Conference in Abuja and it was
adjudged the best FIG Conference in recent times. In 2016 he served as the Secretary of
the Local Organizing Committee for the 2016 International Commonwealth Association
for Surveying and Land Economy. His role in the success of that conference was highly
acknowledged by the CASLE President QSurv. Ajanlekoko ( a Past President of the APBN)

Abdulsalam obtained his Bachelor of Medical laboratory Science degree in Haematology and also studied Haematology at M.Sc. level. He is a Laboratory Quality management expert and a certified Laboratory Assessor with the Medical laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
He was born in Okene, Kogi State on the 4th February 1974. He is hardworking and diligent Medical Laboratory Professional. He has received several distinguished service awards, notably among which is the one by the Management of Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe as the “Best Senior Staff of the year, 2010”.
Abdulalam served as Personal Assistant (PA) to the past AMLSN National President, Mr Manason Runainu, and also served as Personal Assistant (PA) to the Chairman, MLSCN Governing Board, Dr N.N. Shidali. Abdulsalam is a past President of Rotary Club of Gombe. He is a serving Council Member, Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN). Chief  Oye Olugbenga Akinsulire FCA  (Treasurer)

Oye  (fondly called  Double Chief) is a graduate of  Accountancy & Finance from Yaba College of Technology (HND) and Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago-Iwoye (BSc Hons). Arc. Olanrewaju Olusola attended St. Gregory’s College, Obalende, and Government College in Victoria Island, Lagos. He studied Architecture at Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta between 1982 and 1988 where he served as Chairman of the Electoral Committee of Architecture Students Association in 1987.
