APBN was established in 1983, but was recognized by the Federal Government in 1992. Since
establishment, our membership has risen from a few founding member bodies then, to 30
professional groups presently. APBN presently has twelve state and FCT branches…


I warmly welcome distinguished Presidents of Member-bodies, Council members,
State Chapter Chairmen and the Board of APBN to this press conference, holding
today and hosted by Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) at
Victoria Island, Lagos. This is the first APBN Board meeting in the year 2018.
As the umbrella body for the professions, APBN will continue to advocate and
encourage useful, progressive cooperation and collaboration with the three arms
of government, the states and the organized private sector, for the entrenchment
of good governance and leadership through the engagement of core
professionals. APBN at this Board meeting addressed the following national and
contemporary issues…


The Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria held her 2016  two days Presidential Retreat  at the famous Tinapa Lakeside Hotel, Calabar, Cross River State capital  from 29th– 30th January, 2016.

The retreat was attended by the APBN President, Mr G. F. Fasoto, council members, Past Presidents of APBN, Board members, President and members of member bodies, Political office holders, Captains and chieftains of Industries.

Balancing interests in the Board Room illustrates common governance challenges, especially with regards to Board and Board meetings’ administration.

Often times, Board members take their “representative” status seriously and therefore a narrower view of issues before the board.
Before long, several factions will emerge on the board, complicating the board’s ability to make prudent decisions on the entire organization’s behalf and in the interest of its various stakeholders.

The existence and sustainability of every creature requires the sufficiency of the necessary infrastructure and amenities within its environment.

Since government is the ‘rule of the people by the people and for the people’, the existence and sustainability of government rely wholly on the perceptions, cooperation, support and the general responsiveness of the people. It is in this perspective that every government of the world relies mostly on the people for its sustainability through adequate funding.

The need to carry the citizens along by the government in the formulation and execution of her goals, aspiration, objectives, vision and priorities of expenditure, which is carried with not just the present,


but the preservation of the future in mind, simply called Sustainable National Policies, is what this paper seeks to address.

It took a critical look at the very essence of impacting the citizen through various means of information channels and strategy of implementing the impartation of this knowledge. It looked at the merits and demerits and how best to achieve this vision for National Development.

Part one is a brief introduction which includes some quotation from various sources which is meant to be food for thought on the history, need and benefit of collaboration.

Part two is a brief examination of the word collaboration. It examines the manifestation of collaboration in profession and workplace, the advantages, the limitation as well as its challenges.
